We’re thrilled to announce a grant from the J. Christopher Stevens Virtual Exchange Initiative will enable Global Nomads Group’s (GNG) Overcoming Bias in AI to connect young people in the United States, Middle East, and North Africa for meaningful, cross-cultural learning experiences. Together with 10 other grantees, Global Nomads Group will reach nearly 10,000 future leaders, creating a generation of global citizens who are better prepared to contribute to a stronger workforce and society because of the real-world experiences they gained through virtual exchange.
Global Nomads Group’s (GNG) Overcoming Bias in AI connects middle and high school aged youth from the U.S. and the Middle East and North Africa to examine bias in AI and responsible participation in their digital lives. Designed for participation either in or out of the classroom, participants will engage in synchronous and asynchronous activities designed to help them explore bias, equity, and inclusion in AI. This virtual exchange is developed by a diverse group of young designers via GNG’s Content Creation Lab, where participants will also learn to develop curriculum, overcome bias, create universal designs, produce videos, and practice digital safety.
Overcoming Bias in AI is implemented by Global Nomads Group and is supported by the J. Christopher Stevens Virtual Exchange Initiative (JCSVEI). JCSVEI is a U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs program administered by the Aspen Institute.
The Stevens Initiative is an international leader in virtual exchange, which brings young people from diverse places together to collaborate and connect through everyday technology. Created in 2015 as a lasting tribute to Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, the Initiative advocates for broader adoption of virtual exchange; shares research, resources, and promising practices to improve impact; and invests in programs.
