Jennifer Hawkins

Recruitment Assistant

Jennifer is a former kindergarten teacher with experience teaching at various schools in China. She has always had a love for the world and believes firmly in the principle of “the earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens”.

Christine Goussous

Mena Regional Director

Christine is leading GNG’s regional office in Amman, Jordan. She was selected as one of the advocates for the Goalkeepers Youth Action Accelerator that is dedicated to accelerating progress towards the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals. She is passionate about youth development, empowerment, and mobilization and exposing young people to diverse perspectives and experiences through technology.

Tenzing Sherpa

Operations Assistant

Tenzing is a recent graduate with a B.S. in Business Administration focused in HR. With growing interest in employee engagement and culture, along with her continuous want to learn more, she is our Operations Assistant. She also loves to learn about other’s stories through autobiographies and volunteering in her spare time.

Mai Awamleh

Program Assistant

Mai obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Social Research and Public Policy with a minor in Global Education Studies from New York University Abu Dhabi. She is deeply curious and passionate about the role of education in improving lives across global contexts, and supporting youth in realizing their full potential. Her educational background and work experience in the non-profit sector have led her to embark on various projects with a specific focus on designing and implementing safe, nurturing learning spaces.

Rand Alhusban

Program Assistant

Rand is a Campfire Program Assistant at Global Nomads Group. Rand is passionate about providing accessible education to all, and she believes technology can facilitate that immensely. After graduating with a Political Science degree, she set out to work in the nonprofit sector. She has experience working with non profit organizations including United Way, and volunteering at many others including The Boys and Girls Club. ​ As a Campfire Program Assistant, she oversees the preparations, application and keeping track of the progress of the program.

Afiya Williams

Program Manager

Afiya manages GNG’s Pulse program which offers webcasts, special events, and compelling content centered around youth and today’s most critical and relevant topics. She brings to GNG a Masters degree in Educational Leadership, Politics, and Advocacy from New York University along with ten years of passionately leveraging art and education in the nonprofit sector.

Thomas Bell

Head of Technology

Thomas is passionate about data, especially the burgeoning use of data science in product design as well as connecting products to automate data workflows. Thomas previously worked for online learning company AVADO, playing a pivotal role in revolutionizing the Learning Platform as well as implementing and running a successful discovery, ideation and development process for the business.Thomas currently is working to help Global Nomads Group with scale, bringing his wide variety of platforms, UX, data, security and compliance knowledge together.

Corinne Counsell

Program Manager

Corinne works cross-departmentally on the Program and Development teams. She manages the impact evaluation of GNG programs, as well as our institutional funding. Corinne received a Bachelor’s degree in French and Linguistics from Georgetown University, served as a Fulbright Grantee in Germany, and holds a Master’s in International Educational Development from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Noor Ass’ad

Program Assistant

Noor is a Programs Assistant in Global Nomads Group. She is also a German and English undergraduate at the University of Jordan. Noor joined Global Nomads Group as a participant in 2014 then she continued to be part of GNG programs as a student mentor, volunteer, intern, and now as an employee in the Amman Office. She uses her skills to support the program planning, implementation, and monitoring of GNG’s Campfire program.

Nicole Goggin

Director of Program Operations

Nicole started her professional journey with Global Nomads Group in 2010. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from George Mason University with a degree in Global Affairs, she began an internship with GNG, which quickly turned into a long term career with the organization. ​ Having developed curricula, facilitated cross cultural youth conversations, and grown various school partnerships, Nicole has now taken on a strategic role to oversee the many components that make GNG’s programs exciting and meaningful. ​

Stephanie Hernandez

Event & Individual Giving Manager

Stephanie brings her community work experience and enthusiasm for social change to the role of Event & Individual Giving Manager at GNG. Stephanie holds a Masters in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and has gained 10 years of valuable experience in the nonprofit sector, local government family community services and a private mental health hospital.

Elizabeth Knowles

Senior Operations Director

Elizabeth leads GNG’s finance and human resources. She has over ten years of experience working internationally in the realms of education, exchange, and youth empowerment. Elizabeth holds an MPA in public and nonprofit management and policy from NYU Wagner.

Emily Mendelson

Program Manager

With an extensive experience in organizing programs and maintaining relationships with clients, Emily works as a Program Coordinator at GNG. She uses her skills to implement Campfire programs within the United States, recruit schools, and train educators on how to most effectively use the Campfire platform. Emily received a bachelor degree in creative writing from Ithaca College, and has a Masters degree in creative writing from the New School.

Henry Orozco

Senior Full-Stack Developer

Henry is passionate about leveraging technology to create social impact. He brings more than six years of experience in software development, much of which has been in the nonprofit sector, both in the US and abroad. ​ He is currently working to help GNG to further their impact by making the best use of technology and by developing applications for internal use, and for use by teachers and students.

Sandra Stein, PHD

Chief OF Programs & Learning

Sandra is the former Chief Executive Officer of the NYC Leadership Academy. At GNG, she leads a team responsible for evaluating and designing GNG’s programs. Sandra holds a PhD in Education Administration and Policy Analysis from Stanford University. She is a published author of two books on education policy and practice, and articles in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, and numerous scholarly journals.

Courtney Welsh

Chief Executive Officer

Courtney is a seasoned leader in the public and nonprofit sectors. She was a founding member and Chief Operating Officer of the NYC Leadership Academy, and has consulted for organizations such as the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative and the Aspen Institute. Courtney holds a M.Ed. from Harvard University and an executive level certificate from Columbia Graduate School of Business.
