Virtual reality (VR), an immersive technology, is a powerful tool to help us reach this goal. By simulating a real situation, VR can increase what people remember from the experience by 70–90%. VR also instills a sense of agency, which in turn develops students' capacity for empathy, problem-solving, and critical thinking. In concert with rigorous, standards-based curriculum, VR not only gives students engaging opportunities to learn and apply these skills, but also transports them to situations and places that they may never otherwise encounter. Our increasingly connected, increasingly complex world demands that young people are able to grapple with these situations and places; that they are able to think beyond their own immediate experiences.
Over the next 12-18 months, Global Nomads Group (GNG) will produce standards aligned curriculum anchored by virtual reality experiences.
