Empower your teens to take action!

Global Nomads Group is a free educational platform to connect teens with teens on the other side of the world, foster conversation about current events, and grow empathy and compassion.

When teens dig into issues they are passionate about, their engagement is deep and their drive to learn is intense. Add global perspectives from teens from around the world and they’re able to powerfully engage in our shared humanity.

In Student to World, your teen will create an action plan focused on an issue that matters most to them. Student to World allows youth to share stories from their own life, learn about their global peers, and identify ways they can make the world a better place.

Designed by teens for teens ages 13-19, Student to World helps youth deepen their empathy, increase their global awareness, hone their communication and critical thinking skills, and identify ways to contribute to their global communities. We understand as parents at home during a global pandemic that choices and options for engaging your teens are of utmost importance. We have modified our programs to offer multiple personalized learning experiences that allow teens to set the pace, decide when and where they engage and make choices about the content and activities that appeal to them most.

The themes available for Student to World include:

  • Ocean Health: Explore the impact of plastics on oceans around the world.
  • Art in Action: Explore how art is used to further social causes around the world.
  • Global Hunger: Explore how food loss and waste contribute to hunger around the world.
  • Overcoming Bias: Explore how biases are formed and how to interrupt them in ourselves and others.

Different Formats to Fit Your Schedule

In order to provide as much flexibility as possible for busy schedules at home, we’ve modified our Student to World programs to take place in two different formats: an interactive experince delivered via Canvas, and a modified video experience. Both can be completed within a few short hours.

Student to World: Full Online Course

(6 – 8 hours of engagement)

Utilizing our private, online platform (Canvas LMS), your teen will progress through four modules exploring the theme of their choice from the individual, local, and global level, culminating in the creation of an action plan. Each module includes a “Get Ready” section that includes text, images, and videos about the topic, an “Explore” section that includes stories from youth around the world and curated media resources, and finally a “Share” section where your teen will be given a prompt to craft a story around and contribute their voice. This program is available in all five topics listed below once you register.

Student to World: Video Course

(3 – 4 hours of engagement)

In a more condensed version of our program, your teen will engage with four video episodes exploring the theme of their choice from the individual, local, and global level, culminating in the creation of an action plan. Each video episode includes information about the topic, a map to explore global youth stories, and space for youth to contribute their own stories. This program is currently only available for Ocean Health and Global Hunger topics, but we will be adding additional topics in the future.
