One of the most impactful moments I experienced regarding the importance of diversity happened while I was serving as a co-creator of the global program ELP (Equity Leadership Program) alongside Global Nomads. During that season, I had the opportunity to work with young people from different countries, including nations in Africa, Argentina, Mexico, and many other places around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

I remember constantly connecting to virtual spaces where we were not only building ideas together, but also listening deeply to each other\u2019s stories, realities, and challenges. At first, I thought I would mainly find differences between us because of our cultures, languages, and backgrounds. However, as the conversations continued, I began to realize something very powerful: although we came from completely different places, many of us were facing very similar barriers. <\/span>I listened to young people speak about financial struggles, psychological challenges, domestic and community violence, and the feeling of not always having opportunities available to them. That was my \u201caha\u201d moment. <\/span><\/p>\n

I understood that diversity is not only about recognizing where people come from, but also about understanding the different realities each person carries while recognizing the humanity we all share.<\/i><\/span><\/blockquote>\n

At that time, I was dedicating my time to helping develop the program and learning alongside the other co-creators. At the same time, I was also building my own social impact project, True Identity. Being part of ELP strengthened something very deep within me: it helped me believe even more that I could support young people in discovering their potential and developing leadership skills despite the difficult situations they were facing.<\/span><\/p>\n

What happened after that experience was transformational. I was able to implement much of what I learned in Colombia, including through processes with young people connected to GOYN and through the work of True Identity. More importantly, this experience expanded my vision. It reaffirmed for me that diversity matters because every young person deserves opportunities, hope, and the chance to discover their value.<\/span><\/p>\n

In my case, I chose to approach this through truth: helping young people understand the truth that they are capable, that they can be free, and that their circumstances do not define their future. Even while facing barriers such as domestic violence, interpersonal violence, or emotional struggles, they can still rise, lead, and create impact.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since then, True Identity has continued to grow significantly, and I have also had the honor of being recognized among influential young leaders, including recognitions connected to Forbes 30 Under 30 in Central America. However, beyond any recognition, what remains most meaningful to me is how ELP and Global Nomads transformed my perspective and my leadership journey.<\/span><\/p>\n

ELP and Global Nomads became a deeply meaningful part of my life and leadership journey. Both shaped my perspective on diversity, youth leadership, and social impact. ELP not only allowed me to co-create alongside young people from different parts of the world, but it also taught me the value of listening, understanding, and building from different realities. At the same time, Global Nomads created the space where those voices could meet, connect, and grow together.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through this experience, I understood that diversity is not a barrier, but a strength capable of transforming communities, opening opportunities, and creating more human and meaningful solutions for young people around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n
