They were very engaged and thought deeply about accessibility in their daily lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<footer><cite class=\"elementor-blockquote__author\">Martha Doherty, Global Nomads Group<\/cite><\/footer>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6bf2ed0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6bf2ed0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Global Nomads Group and its esteemed corporate partner <a href=\"https:\/\/millerknoll.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MillerKnoll<\/a> teamed up in London to introduce young people to the dynamic field of design, to explore career pathways for designers from underrepresented communities, and to learn how together, they can shape a better future.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty students from the<a href=\"https:\/\/t.sidekickopen84.com\/s3t\/c\/5\/f18dQhb0V1-gmb8c7S2xV737b159hl3kW7_k2841CX2c7W3KmPmw57Qx4yVVmPKz54l8mg102?te=W3R5hFj4cm2zwW4mKLS-3QZnrWW3T3p9j4rF8KyW3ZZP4n3z8mJ-F43Wg2vmLM11&amp;si=8000000000376275&amp;pi=b5d4131c-6807-4c0f-dae2-e2fbf69b4992\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Harris City Academy Crystal Palace<\/a> participated in an interactive workshop on the theme of \u201cDesigning for a Just World,\u201d in conjunction with MillerKnoll\u2019s #DesignYourFuture program.<\/p>\n<p>Through hands-on activities and small group discussions, students examined their built environment \u2014 home, school, parks and recreational centers \u2014 and how these spaces reflected the identities and met the needs of themselves and others in their community. They considered what places gave them a sense of belonging and what design and building choices increased \u2014 or endangered \u2014 environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop also shined a spotlight on accessibility. After viewing a video of a person who uses a wheelchair trying to navigate London\u2019s often inaccessible public transport system, students delved into the principles of Universal Design, an approach that centers the experiences of people with disabilities to create the most inclusive and efficient spaces.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe students really took time to think about their environment and what would need to be changed to make their own school accessible,\u201d said Global Nomads Group Programs Coordinator Martha Doherty, who facilitated the session. \u201cThey were very engaged and thought deeply about accessibility in their daily lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To build on this newfound perspective, students were linked to Global Nomads Group\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/t.sidekickopen84.com\/s3t\/c\/5\/f18dQhb0V1-gmb8c7S2xV737b159hl3kW7_k2841CX2c7W3KmPmw57Qx4yVVmPKz54l8mg102?te=W3R5hFj4cm2zwW3P4d6v43Wg2wW3FbtS04cJ2YZW3zgCH03T3QR7f4fPf-tV3&amp;si=8000000000376275&amp;pi=b5d4131c-6807-4c0f-dae2-e2fbf69b4992\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Architecture for a Just and Sustainable World<\/a> course, a transformative online experience. The course<i>, <\/i>created through Global Nomads Group\u2019s groundbreaking<i> by youth, for youth<\/i> proven approach, offers an in-depth exploration of the cultural and historical significance of built structures and a closer look at how architecture and design careers can lead to a more just and sustainable world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to collaborate with our partners MillerKnoll to advance our shared goal of creating pathways for young people to share their diverse perspectives, bridge their differences, and develop solutions to the challenges of today and tomorrow \u201d said CEO of Global Nomads Group Courtney Welsh. \u201cWe look forward to continuing this collaboration by bringing similar workshops to other regions in the MillerKnoll network.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>#DesignYourFuture is a program of MillerKnoll that connects young people from diverse backgrounds to increase their awareness of the design industry.
