David has over 15 years of experience in non-profit management and international business development in high growth companies. He is the owner of Lucanina, an ecommerce payments consultancy. Prior to Lucanina, David was Head of Business Development & Partnerships at Balanced, and VP Product for TransferTo. He co-founded Global Nomads Group, and has been a board member since his departure from operations in 2007. David holds his B.A. from The American University of Paris and received his M.B.A. from INSEAD. 

Oorlagh George

Independent Filmmaker, Writer, Producer and Artist

Oorlagh is an Oscar-winning filmmaker, writer, producer and artist. Oorlagh created the forthcoming TV drama series Faultline and is currently directing her first feature-length screenplay, Stranger With A Camera.  She was awarded the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short alongside her father, Terry George, for their film The Shore. Oorlagh produced the moving tale about reconciliation in Northern Ireland, which won over 40 awards in festivals and was released in cinemas worldwide. Oorlagh worked in various capacities on the productions of: Beginners, Adam, Hotel Rwanda, American Gangster, Munich, and Inside Man. She holds a BA in International Politics from Kenyon College and studied producing and documentary film at the La Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión in Cuba and the University of Southern California.

Allison Jackson

For more than three decades, Allison Jackson has been one of Hollywood’s most respected and accomplished producers of events, and her work includes premieres, parties, and guest and celebrity outreach. She has worked with industry giants as Fox Searchlight, Lionsgate, Netflix, IndieWire, The Producers Guild, Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros., The Wrap and The Weinstein Company, and has produced charitable events for leading non-profits. Previously she worked at Paramount Pictures as the Senior Vice President of Special Projects & Philanthropy. In 2006 she launched her own production firm, the Allison Jackson Company, and as principal brings to each client the full breadth and depth of her expertise to produce high quality events. Allison is married and has two children.

Sidney R. Smith, III

Founder and President, SRS Counsel, P.C.

Sid is the founder and president of SRS Counsel PLLC, a solo law practice that provides virtual general counsel services on a range of corporate and transactional matters. Prior to founding SRS Counsel, he practiced for nearly 14 years at the law firms of K&L Gates LLP and Cooley LLP. He is also a co-founder of Discourse Analytics, a data analytics company launched in 2011. He is active in many organizations dedicated to service in the areas of education and economic development. He is currently a member of the Board of the Pahara Institute and the University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law Foundation. He is a charter member of The Marathon Foundation and a senior advisor to Bellwether Education Partners. Sid graduated from Yale with a B.A. in English, where he was a member of the varsity basketball team, and received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.

John Tymitz

Co-Founder, Institute for Shipboard Education 

John is the past President of the Institute of Shipboard Education. In 1976, John co-founded the Institute for Shipboard Education (ISE), which administers the Semester at Sea program. Throughout his career with ISE, John served in various capacities including: Director of Administrative Affairs, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer. He has sailed on 15 shipboard education voyages around the world and traveled to over 85 countries through his extensive work in international education. John holds his B.A. and M.A. from Southern Illinois University and received his Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University.

Mark von Sponeck  

Co-founder of Global Nomads Group

Director at Azure Investments

Mark has over 20 years of experience engaged with development issues, cross-cultural learning, and sustainable business creation in developing countries. He is the CEO and Director of Azure Investments, a tourism business based in Mozambique, and the General Manager of Thahara, a local tourism business in Myanmar. Mark co-founded GNG and served as CEO from its founding until 2006, leading the office and coordinating programs across the world in both conflict and post-conflict settings. He continues to be actively involved in programs covering Uganda, Kenya, Syria, Rwanda, and Iraq. He received his B.A. from The American University of Paris.
